During the 12-day series, Maria will be exploring topics surrounding: hardships, perseverance, fundraising, social media, and the importance and value of online community.

In this episode, Maria is chatting with Jennifer Carvalho-Silva Lopez. Earlier this year, Jennifer lost her brother to ALS after a short 7-month long battle. He left behind a beautiful and loving family - a wife, an 8-year-old son, and a 10-year-old daughter.

Jennifer decided to turn her pain into positivity in honor of her brother, who was always helping others. She participated in a walking challenge on Facebook in support of her local ALS Florida Chapter and even encouraged her entire family to do the challenge with her.

Jennifer is a fierce supporter of all nonprofits, and her hopes for the future of others suffering and finding a cure for ALS is inspiring.
